Canadian Ice Service (CIS), At the Canadian Ice Service (CIS), our mission is to provide the most accurate and timely information about ice in Canada"s navigable waters. We work to promote safe and efficient maritime operations and to help protect Canada"s environment. World Glacier Monitoring Service collects standardised observations on changes in mass, volume, area and length of glaciers with time (glacier fluctuations), as well as statistical information on the distribution of perennial surface ice in space (glacier inventories).
